Shop Lubricants Now

Personal Lubricants are another great aid that every couple should try if they haven’t already. Lubricants can greatly enhance you and your partner’s sexual pleasure during intercourse, solo play, with use of a sex toy, when trying anal sex, and many other times!

Lubricant is a must have for some women who do not create the self-lubrication correctly or do not anymore because of a certain cycles in their life, pregnancy, after pregnancy, after surgery, etc. Lubricant can make sexual enjoyable for women again when/if it hasn’t been as comfortable.

Lubricant is also a must for use with Anal Sex for beginners and intermediate couples alike. The anus does not produce natural lubricant like the Vagina and so therefore this is an essential in this case.

Now let’s get down to the basics. There are three basic types of Lubricants you should know about. Water-Based Lubricants, Petroleum-based*, and Silicone-based. They all have different advantages and disadvantages, so let’s go ahead and break them down.

Water-Based Lubricants

This is the most used, safe, and popular of the three kinds. It is safe to use with condoms and barrier birth control. In addition to this, water-based lubricants are safe to use with sex toys, which are usually made of Latex, Silicone, or plastic materials! Definitely a plus for a person that frequently uses sex toys. Usually they do not cause irritation, stain sheets or clothing, are safe to eat if necessary or desired – which is why most flavored lubricants are also water-based. They do tend to dry out over time. Also unlike other lubricants, Water-based lubricants are much easier to wash off after sex.

Petroleum-based Lubricant & Natural Oil-Based Lubricants

Petroleum-based lubricant includes most natural oil-based lubes like Vaseline, mineral oil products, and baby oil. The Natural oil Lubricants come from sources such as vegetables, but they destroy latex. They do not cause vaginal irritation though and so many women can find relief in using this kind of lubrication to masturbate or for use when in a committed relationship where using a condom is not a factor.

Unfortunately Petroleum-based products all destroy latex, so they cannot be used with condoms, diaphragms and other latex products. They also can inflame and irritate the vagina. They also can stain clothing, sheets, and other materials. You might ask “why would I want to use this then?” Well Petroleum-based lubes do tend to last quite awhile, so men find these types to be very pleasurable during masturbation and solo play sessions.

Silicone-based Lubricants

Silicone lubricants offer the same great benefits of water-based lubricants except they also are waterproof, so they can be used in the bath, Jacuzzi, hot tubs, swimming pools, etc! They also tend to last longer than water-based lubricants. Silicone will not hurt Latex materials, condoms, and birth control like diaphragms, etc. Unfortunately they can ruin sex toys that are made from silicone. Many people love Silicone Lubricants and it is also a favorite for male and female solo play.

* Currently, we do not offer any petroleum based products.
